SyncCanine, part of SyncThermology, are delighted to announce they are teaming up with Medical Detection Dogs to assist the team in ongoing monitoring and preventative care. Bio-detection & Medical Alert Assistance Dogs are trained to detect the odour of diseases in samples such as urine, breath and swabs. The dogs can detect minute changes in an individual’s personal odour triggered by their disease and alert them to an impending medical event. Because dogs are able to detect tiny concentrations, around one part per trillion (the equivalent of one teaspoon of sugar in two Olympic sized swimming pools). Medical Detection Dogs are potentially able to detect diseases, such as cancer, much earlier than is currently possible. Their pioneering work could help to speed up the diagnostic process and impact thousands of lives. Detecting disease at an early stage is at the forefront of their research, so supporting the team was an easy decision for us to make. These dogs really do make a difference to people life’s and how they cope with, sometimes, life-threatening diseases. The SyncCanine Imaging team are honoured to work with these amazing dogs and ensure that early stage disease and injury can also be detected and treated in them. Last week our canine Imaging Technicians - Shelley Heading and Susie Parker had a pleasure of working with malaria detection dog Asher, Mark and Sarah from the Medical Detection Dogs team. This was the first physiological assessment for Asher who will be monitored regularly as part of early detection and injury prevention programme. After the scan Shelley and Susie had a chance to meet puppies who will grow up to impact the lives of many people.
